A Song to Jam To

Just a very, very fast five sentence post. I just wanted to update you guys on awesome songs, so I figured should let you know about this song called "Turn Me On" by Lelia Broussard. I've been listening to it for the past six hours (with the exception of Glee). You should listen to it. And the artist is in this competition to be on the cover of Rolling Stone, so you should vote for her (go down two posts and rate her five stars on the "This Chick is Awesome. Vote For Her." post).

Song Of The Day 3/9 and 3/10

Yes, yes, I missed yesterday - very sorry, I was a little sick. Well, here we are, and I present you with TWO songs for your reading and listening pleasure.

Those songs?

Here It Goes Again - Ok Go and Earn Enough For Us - XTC

Both these songs makes me dance in parking lots. Lyrics? Lyrics, lyrics, lyrics.

Here It Goes Again - Ok Go

It could be ten, but then again, I can't remember half an hour since a quarter to four.
Throw on your clothes, the second side of Surfer Rosa, and you leave me with my jaw on the floor.
Just when you think you're in control,
just when you think you've got a hold,
just when you get on a roll,
here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again.
Oh, here it goes again.
I should have known,
should have known,
should have known again,
but here it goes again.
Oh, here it goes again.
It starts out easy, something simple, something sleazy, something inching past the edge of the reserve.
Now through lines of the cheap venetian blinds your car is pulling off of the curb.
Just when you think you're in control,
just when you think you've got a hold,
just when you get on a roll,
here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again.
Oh, here it goes again.
I should have known, should have known,
should have known again,
but here it goes again.
Oh, here it goes again.
I guess there's got to be a break in the monotony, but Jesus, when it rains how it pours.
Throw on your clothes, the second side of Surfer Rosa, and you leave me, yeah, you leave me.
Oh, here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again.
Oh here it goes again.
I should have known, should have known,
should have known again,
but here it goes again.
Oh, here it goes again.

Earn Enough For Us - XTC

I've been praying all the week through
At home, at work and on the bus
I've been praying I can keep you
And to earn enough for us

I can take humiliation
And hurtful comments from the boss
I'm just praying by the weekend
I can earn enough for us

Found a house that won't repair itself
With it's windows cracking
And a roof held together with holes
Just because we're at the bottom of the ladder
We shouldn't be sadder
Than others like us
Who have goals for the betterment of life
Glad that you want to be my wife, but honest
I've been praying all the week through
At home at work and on the bus
I've been praying I can keep you
And to earn enough for us

So you're saying that we're going to be three
Now, a father's what I'll be
Don't get me wrong, I'm so proud
But the belt's already tight
I'll get another job at night, but honest

I can take humiliation
And hurtful comments from the boss
I'm just praying by the weekend
I can earn enough for us
Just because we're at the bottom of the ladder
We shouldn't be sadder
Than others like us
Who have goals for the betterment of life
Glad that you want to be my wife, but honest

I can take humiliation
And hurtful comments from the Boss
I'm just praying by the weekend
I can earn enough for us
I can earn enough for us

There you are - two amazing songs assigned to two blah days.

Song Of The Day 3/8

Hey y'all.

LOOK!
A SONG!
OF THE DAY!

...overkill, right? Too bad.

Alright, the new song of the day issss.....

Lazy Sunday by Nickasaur!

The electronic gets a lot of hate, but I do like the genre and this, while certainly electronic sounding, will appeal to the people still on the fence.

Lyrics? Okay, okay, sheesh.

Lazy Sunday - Nickasaur!

It's a lazy Sunday, and i'm stayin' inside;
to watch Good Morning LA.

As I notice the birds are tweetin',
with the sun creepin ,
out of my window.

I'll cook you some breakfast, sunny-side up,
but you just lay there and don't you get up.
Gonna hit the town, down around two,
so when the one hits the 30 thats your cue.
To get movin', we gotta get movin',
or were you sayin', you wanted to stay at the Day-Inn?
and leave the rest up to me and you.

It's a lazy Sunday, and were going outside;
let's not waste this beautiful day.

I see you layin',
you really wanna be playin',
to show a little displayin' of love.

We'll toss and turn, as you listen and learn,
as we lay on the bed.
Don't fall asleep, dont count your sheep,
even if it may be 10 to 2.

But just remember it's me and you time;
your more than a friend, like my partner in crime.
Just go to bed, thats alright;
I'll stay up and make sure the bed bugs wont bite.

It's a lazy sunday, and were going to bed;
say goodnight to the moon.

You can use your imagination,
for tonight's vacation,
'till monday afternoon.

Until tomorrow,
Keep on keepin' on,

Song Of The Day 3/7

Alright, the musician for today's SOTD may sound a little familiar. You aren't going crazy (well...), Mike's been on here before. This is just a testament to how great he is.

The song of the day is Caroline by Mike Lombardo.

This was originally written for The Masters if Song Fu competition put on by QuickStop entertainment (You'll see a reference to QuickStop in the song). It didn't win, which is a shame, because this is a really cute song. It's cheesy, yes, but it's a sweet song that's fun to sing to.

Lyrics time!

Caroline - Mike Lombardo

I knew since I came awake
that today was a special day
yeah, it was
I left the office in a blur
she knows I'm coming home to her
yeah she does

and it's a shame that nobody knows this thing that we got
but we'll be the same way
no matter if they know it or not
so it doesn't really matter cause
Me and Caroline
we're gonna take the car down the road
we'll go wherever she wants to go
and we'll make it home in time
to turn the radio way down low
and baby, we'll pour the wine
just me and caroline

i took a turn on 23rd
and I was singing with the birds
in the trees
I made a quick stop at the store
to bring some flowers home before
we roll free

and it's a shame that nobody knows this thing that we got
but we'll be the same way
no matter if they know it or not
so it doesn't really matter cause
Me and Caroline
we're gonna take the car down the road
we'll go wherever she wants to go
and we'll make it home in time
to turn the radio way down low
and baby, we'll pour the wine
just me and caroline

Ah, Mike, how you melt my heart.

Keep rockin' it.

Song Of The Day 3/6

NEWSONGOFTHEDAYOKAY?

Okay. The song of the day is...

wait for it...

Panama - Van Halen

Yes, I know, Van Halen gets some flack because of the unorthodox-ness associated with it (have you seen the hair?), but I really love this song. It makes me wanna beat drumsticks on the dashboard of my dad's car.

Lyrics? Whatever you say.

Panama - Van Halen

Uh!
Oh yeah!
Ah-huh!

Jump back, what's that sound?
Here she comes, full blast'n top down
Hot shoe, burnin' down the avenue
Model citizen, zero discipline

Don't you know she's coming home with me
You'll lose her in that turn
I'll get her!

Panama, Panama
Panama, Panama

Ain't nothin' like it, it's a shining machine
Got the feel for the wheel, keep the movin' parts clean
Hot shoe, burnin' down the avenue
Got an on-ramp comin' through my bedroom

Don't you know she's coming home with me
You'll lose her in that turn
I'll get her
oh!

Panama, Panama
ow!
Panama, Panama
oh-oh-oh-oh
Woo!

[Guitar Solo]

Yeah, we're runnin' a little bit hot tonight
I can barely see the road from the heat comin' off
know what I'm sayin'
uhh, I reach down between my legs n' ease the seat back

She's runnin', I'm flyin'
Right behind in the rearview mirror now
Got the fearin', power steerin'
Pistons poppin', ain't no stoppin' now

Panama, Panama
Panama, Panama
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Panama, Panama
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Panama!

Just a totally awesome song.
Keep it rockin'

Song Of The Day 3/5

New song coming at 'cha. Get ready.

The song is "Maybe" by The Perfect Measure. It's one of my favorite love songs, with a great message and doesn't go overboard.

Lyrics? Okay.

Maybe - The Perfect Measure

Maybe I'll find you here,
Just maybe,
I'll find you.

Maybe we could fly away,
To our special place,
We wouldn't give it away,
No we wont give it away,

I swear that I wouldn't breathe,
But I promise that I'll believe,

Cause there's a place for you here,
There's a place for you, my dear,
I should have said this from the start,
That there's a place for you here,
In my heart.

Maybe the sight of your face,
Would blow all my tears away,
Just maybe,
It'll blow them away,
But maybe we'll sit and just talk,
About life, about love,
We can fly like a dove if you want,
Away from here,

I swear that I wouldn't breathe,
But I promise that I'll believe,

Cause there's a place for you here,
There's a place for you, my dear,
I should have said this from the start,
But there's a place for you here,
In my heart.

Maybe,
Just maybe,
Just maybe for now,
Just maybe for now.

Take a step back,
Try your best to free,
Maybe it's not ment to be,
And just promise you wont forget me.

Cause there's a place for you here,
There's a place for you, my dear,
I should have said this from the start,
But there's a place for you here,
In my heart (x3)

Hope you check it out - it's worth it.

Keep rockin' it.

Song Of The Day 3/4

Ready for the song of the day?

Good. I'm glad.

The song of the day is "Locked Out" by Mike Lombardo. It is really profound, with amazing imagery, and the piano is excellent.

Lyrics? Lyrics.

Locked Out - Mike Lombardo

I'm sitting out here on my own
with the moth around the front porch lamp that shines behind me
it's funny how you'd never know
that your home is really not your home
if you forget the key

you said you'd be home soon
but I don't want to wait that long
you said you'd be home soon
but I'm locked out.

I'm sitting out here on my own
does everybody else feel just as empty?
Are you happy when there's nothing left to own?
Or is there something deep inside that's more than I can see?

and I've been standing here for years and years
just drowning all my fears with self control
and now I think there might be something more
than waiting for the years to take their toll

I'm sitting out here on my own
I see your headlights on the pavement as you pull into the driveway
it's funny how you'd never know
that your life is really not your life
if you forget the key
and I'm locked out.

I think this song shows a real insight on abandonment, which is something you don't usually get nowadays.

I'm glad it exists.
