The End

Two girls stood at the edge of a large lake. It was dusk and slightly cold, so they stood with their arms around each other, bare toes barely touching the waters edge.

The first girl stood tall, long blond hair hanging off her shoulders, eyes blazing past the lake to the trees on the other side. The second girl was slightly shorter with cropped black hair, her face sunk into the crook of the blonds neck, not daring to look at her surroundings.

They stood, silently, for a long time. When the second girl finally spoke what she had been thinking, she did it in a small, weak voice, just loud enough for her companion to hear.

"When it's all over," she said quietly, "when we make it through, will we be here, or there?" The first girl raised her eyebrows.

"Huh. I never even thought about that." The blond's eyes flashed quickly to the tree's, and then back down at the water's edge.

"Really?" Came the first voice. "That's all I can think about." She shifted a little, putting the majority of her weight on her left foot, and then her right. The blond stood quiet for another moment. She kissed the top of her sister's head.

"Well, the good news in that wherever we end up is where we're supposed to go, so there's no need to worry about it."

FIN.
