Some Old Poems

Stuff I thought I would post.

Hat

Ummm. So, hi. Yes.
So, umm, I may have seen you around the corner,
just for a moment, you know.
And, uhh, you may have been wearing that hat...
you know, the hat! We got it at the fair.
Last year.
And, well, uhh.
It looks different from far away, you know?
makes me think you should have thrown it out.
Maybe.
and it makes me wonder who's seen you in that hat.
and it looks black from where i'm standing -
I always thought it was green. Deep green.
And i think maybe I was meant to see you,
and maybe i was mean to see your new, black hat.
because maybe you never wanted your old, green hat.
I liked that hat.
And maybe I shouldn't have been walking to the corner tonight.
And maybe you should have thrown out my hat.

Rain

Do you remember when it rained?
Of course you do, it was September.
We ran outside in shorts and screamed at the wind.
Do you remember?
How that raindrop would hit your temple and roll down
to your chin and fall off?

Do you remember when it rained?
Of course you do, it was April.
You ran from me, outside,
to make me think that the tears in your eyes were raindrops.
Do you remember?
That I had to pin your arms so you wouldn't keep running
until you broke down and sobbed into my shoulder?
Do you?

Do you remember when it rained?
Of course you do, it was July.
We laid in the liquid grass as we watched the warm water hit our bones.
Do you remember?
I took off my sweatshirt and put the wet cloth over us,
as if it would do any good?
Do you?

Do you remember when it rained?
Of course you do, it was September.
You dragged me outside at midnight and stood in the middle of the road.
Do you remember?
You almost fell asleep standing up, because you refused to go back inside,
because watching the rain fall and the sparks fly were all you needed?

You'd never believe it,
thats just the person you are.
But it's okay, because
I know that you're just so

I see it when you're laughing,
and I notice it when you're
sleeping and I love the fact that
